Benefits, safety and side effects of tumescent local anesthesia in dermatologic surgery in infants

Tumescent local anesthesia (TLA) plays an important role in dermatosurgical procedures. TLA has several benefits such as long-lasting anesthesia, reduced bleeding during surgery and the avoidance of general anesthesia-associated complications. Convenience a favorable risk profile along with broad spectrum indications are further reasons why is increasingly applied infants well. There not only variety for surgical excisions infancy, congenital nevi, but also substantial when performing these at early age. These include smaller size lesions well unproblematic wound healing tissue regeneration infancy. Nevertheless, aspects need to be considered applying including dosing, altered plasma protein binding adequate pain control.
